1. What is a Bin Rack?
A bin rack (or action rack) is specifically a display rack system with a unique configuration and style, providing tiered, sloping, visually open shelving and a compartmental approach to storage. In summary, it is essentially a shelf system with baskets or bins. Bin racking is ideal for an operation requiring both accessibility and visibility of materials. This storage system embodies the Japanese ‘Kanban‘ philosophy, as it is easy to see when a particular item is low in stock. Storage of either small components, brochures, food, or parts is common.
3. Construction of Action Rack Shelving
A bolted pre-galvanised steel frame provides a rigid frame to carry loads imparted from a series of lift-out plastic bins. Furthermore, options include swivel castors to make these units mobile. It is similar to a shelving system where bins replace shelves.
In detail, offsetting the heights of the front and rear bear beams provides a sloping shelving effect.
